City Built Over Farmland; Now Nature's Sending a 400-Pound, Snout-Driven Invoice to World Golf Village

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — Residents of a St. Augustine subdivision near World Golf Village are learning a valuable lesson in historical ecology, as a sounder of feral hogs has decided their meticulously manicured lawns make for excellent rooting grounds. Two adult pigs and over a dozen piglets, all tracing their lineage back to Spanish explorers in 1539, are turning pristine yards into "war zones" overnight. The local HOA has called in professional wildlife wranglers, Quick Catch, who employ trail cams, deer corn, and massive corral traps to contain the situation.

According to Ryan Boyd, president of Quick Catch, these aren't just any garden-variety pests; they're "problem-solving geniuses." While trapping gives him an "adrenaline rush" akin to a "video game," the reality is a little less fun for homeowners like Dave Field, who is "frustrated" despite his wife remaining "chill" about the new "wild boars and all."

Florida real estate agent Cara Ameer notes the obvious: this once-farmland area is now suburban sprawl, and the displaced wildlife is, as she puts it, "trying to figure out where to go." So, while residents around World Golf Village may have moved in for the golf greens and quiet cul-de-sacs, they're now getting an unasked-for, 400-pound reminder that nature bats last. The captured hogs' meat will be donated to charities, offering some small solace to the newly re-wilded neighborhood.
