Fisherman Says He Knows A Spot, Takes Friend To Same Bridge Everyone Knows

Local man spent 30 minutes whispering about tides, bait, and “not telling everybody” before pulling straight onto Matanzas Inlet Bridge.

ST. AUGUSTINE — A local fisherman who claimed he “knew a spot” reportedly took a friend to Matanzas Inlet Bridge this weekend, where half the county was already lined up with rods, buckets, and the exact same idea.

Witnesses say the man spent the entire drive building suspense, describing the spot as “money on the right tide” and “not somewhere I bring just anybody,” before arriving at one of the most aggressively known fishing locations in the area.

“He made it sound like we were headed to some hidden inlet only discovered by old shrimpers,” said the friend. “Then we pulled up and there were already six guys in sun shirts and a cooler that looked older than me.”

The fisherman reportedly lowered his voice near the bridge and said, “Don’t tell too many people about this,” while standing within earshot of several other men who also apparently knew a spot.

At press time, nobody had caught anything, and everyone agreed it "had been better yesterday."
